City Lifting, the specialist mobile and tower crane-hire Company, has relied on AGM Telematics’ vehicle tracking for over 10 years and during this time, says the company, the system has played an integral part in the day-to-day management of over 100 City Lifting vehicles.
Every vehicle in the fleet – from cranes, fitter’s vans and HGVs to service engineer vehicles, pick-ups and mobile tower cranes – is fitted with a routeMASTER tracking system – which, among other things, enables the City Lifting team to pinpoint the whereabouts of any vehicle at any time.
“It’s all about logistics” comments Director Bob Jones. “There are often hold-ups on site which can cause bottle-necks. In such cases, we can react instantly and speed up or slow down the movement of vehicles according to requirements at the customer’s end. With the AGM system,” he adds, “customers can be advised regarding ETAs and assets are kept on the move.”
Driver performance can also be monitored, whereby staff and management can review their driving habits and if necessary, curb excessive acceleration or speeding. Plus, by referring to the real-time online log for each vehicle’s movements, City Lifting can provide quick and accurate defence against traffic disputes or driver infringements, should they occur.
“The system’s instant report-builder is impressive, allowing us to go back as far as when a unit was installed to interrogate the data. We like to generate weekly reports so that employee information can be referenced at any time.”
